Saw Six Days In December at the Thameside Gallery in Woolwich.
Saw some Holly Hendry pieces that I like a lot. Her work is large, lumpy, and seemingly immoveable. Layers, squashed, impressions of objects embedded into layers that feel like strata. Recogniseable things like screws, safety pins, hair pins from objects that are like tools. Useful with functions.
Her materials are clean and pastelly. She uses a lot of Jesmonite, plaster, steel, timber (but in the making rather than in the finished piece) so you can see surface and grain.
Look at her work further!
