Ceramic Tests

I’m working in porcelain to make hand-sized imprints from the eaten away log that I’m working with at the moment.

Wood found in Brockwell Park and eaten by beetles.

I like the immediacy of the clay and the way that I can push it into the form of the holes and surface of the wood, picking up debris from the wood. I wanted to work in porcelain as it’s white and clean and I am curious to see how this wood, soil and other debris will fire in the kiln.

I want to scale up and see these as being larger and potentially with other kinds of clay used also. Thinking about fossils.
